I would argue there are 2 headsets you can buy. Most of all because of the higher refresh rate. The lack of pixels is nice, but I find that My valve index is still my main headset.

So its an upgrade in 1 way, but a downgrade in the other.ДЄs it sits right now I would say the lenovo explorer, occulus quest 2, and other current gen headsets don't need a higher resolution display. Also if you use the motion smoothing, it really warps the image on the g2 which can give you a massive headache. And that is an issue in il2 as if you do not hit 90 the game renders at 45 which is choppy. However the main issue with the reverb G2 is the fact th at its 60 or 90 hz only. In other headsets I can literally see the dark spots inbetween the pixels and whiel I still can on the G2 its a lot less noticeable making it a really clear picture. What was nice is I could lower the ingame resolution, however because the reberb G2 has the higher pixel density, I don't see the screen door effect that you get in other headsets. Now the reverb G2 is essentially an upgraded lenovo explorer with a much more clear screen.

But since 60hz is buttery smooth I can run the game at decently high settings and play with a lot of enjoyment. But since the headset is refreshing at 120 times a second I do not get the flickering white textures that I got with the 60hz mode on the wmr headset. So because the game cannot run 120 it decieds to run at 60 which I already explained was smooth. But it can handle 60 as can many decent gaming rigs. now there is no way my computer can handle the game at 120 hz. Now when I moved onto the index I was able to run at 120 hz mode. This gives me a massive headache so it makes 60 hz not usable despite the movement being smooth. The only issue is my eyes can detect the refresh in the white colors so any light color appears to almost have a microflicker like everything is turning on and off at a very rapid speed.

Now 60hz is actually really smooth looking inside of the headset. The 120 hertz option is really the most important feature of that headset so let me explain. HOWEVER there is one thing that really made it a far larger improvement than that. Overal it was about a 15% improvement over the lenovo explorer in general. Like it worked fantasticly and I have nothing bad to say about it. The lenovo explorer I bought for 200 bucks was more than enough. So I have used a lenovo explorer, a valve index, and a reverb G2.
